I founded Appris Stained Glass so that I could share this unique and amazing medium with everyone who appreciates color, design and beauty. “Appris” is a French word which means “learned.” It seemed appropriate that the company’s name should reflect the time, patience and practice it requires to do it well. For many years I have been dedicated to perfecting this craft and I hope you enjoy my pieces as much as I enjoy creating them.
What I find most exciting about stained glass is that it is a piece of history, it reminds us of a time when artisans used their hands, minds and engineering skills instead of machines. For over a thousand years stained glass has been used to adorn churches, homes, and other significant buildings around the world. It is lasting and evolving at the same time. It can be modern in design or reminiscent of times past. The choice is yours.
The man who influenced my interest in stained glass once said, “Only create something you’re proud to put your name on.” I work hard to live up to that standard and will not allow anything to leave my shop that isn’t worthy of his advice.
