I was raised in Northeastern Pennsylvania, home of coal mines and good Eastern European food. Many of the churches in the area as well as the homes I grew up in, contained beautiful stained glass windows. As a youth, I long admired and contemplated the unending color combinations, the myriad of patterns and designs, and the obvious work it required to make them. But it wasn’t until many years later that I had the courage to learn the craft.
Since I was eight years old I have worked with my hands. I started out with Erector Sets and moved on to designing and building custom scale model cars. As I got older, I wanted to create something that would have meaning to others, not just me. It was a natural progression into stained glass as it requires the same types of engineering skills I had learned as a boy - the following and creating of patterns, building something from scratch, creativity, imagination, piecing it together so it works and lots and lots of patience!
Self-taught, my journey in stained glass started in 1996. Inspired by my Uncle Bob who was a great stained glass artisan in his own right; I began with small panels for the window and expanded into making lamps for friends and family. Eventually, after many years dedicating myself to the art, I developed the skills to create the window valances on the home page.
